Historical tropical cyclones in Indonesia
A selection of high-intensity cyclones documented in the historical archive and geographically related to the Indonesia region. The archive shows 129 systems in this mode.
The hub highlights systems with documented maximum winds of at least 96 kt. Geographic relation does not mean impact: best-track positions inside the region do not prove landfall, damage or territorial impact. Records before 1950 require additional caution.

Tropical cyclones in Indonesia: local exposure
Indonesia straddles the equator, where conditions for tropical cyclone development are often less favorable than farther from it. Nonetheless, cyclones forming near the archipelago can drive heavy rainfall, coastal waves and significant flooding.
Understanding cyclone tracking data
This EarthSentra portal provides an overview of storms and their reported movements. Forecast tracks and storm intensity can change, and impacts may extend well beyond the forecast center. Wind, extreme rainfall and storm surge are different hazards; rainfall and coastal flooding can remain dangerous after a system weakens.
Warnings and preparedness
Historical storm tracks are not active warnings. Consult the responsible national meteorological service and local emergency authorities for current official forecasts, coastal evacuation advice and shelter information. Do not rely on this page alone for time-sensitive safety decisions.
See the World Meteorological Organization for global meteorological context and EarthSentra’s global tropical cyclone monitor for regional comparison.
