EarthSentra is an independent digital platform for real-time natural hazard monitoring, disaster alerts and educational information.
Our goal is to transform large amounts of technical data from specialized sources into information that is organized, understandable, and easy to explore.
Through maps, updated records, statistics, and monitoring tools, EarthSentra aims to provide a clear view of what is happening across our planet.
Our Mission
Information about natural hazards is often scattered across different organizations, databases, and monitoring systems.
EarthSentra was created with a simple idea: to bring this information together, process it, and present it in a way that anyone can easily understand and explore.
We want visitors to EarthSentra to be able to quickly understand:
- what natural events are being recorded;
- where they are happening;
- when they occurred;
- how strong they were;
- which events stand out from normal activity;
- and where to find official information when necessary.
Up-to-Date Information and Context
EarthSentra uses automated systems to collect and process information from specialized sources and organizations that publish data about natural hazards.
This information may later be updated or revised by the original sources as new analyses become available.
Our system organizes the data and presents it through maps, statistics, regional pages, and event records.
In addition to displaying recent data, EarthSentra aims to provide context through guides, educational content, and historical information related to natural hazards.
More Than an Earthquake Map
EarthSentra began by developing its monitoring system around global seismic activity.
However, the platform is designed to progressively incorporate information about different types of natural hazards as reliable sources and appropriate data-processing systems become available.
Our long-term goal is to build a central resource where people can better understand natural activity occurring around the world.
Personalized Alerts
EarthSentra is also developing tools that will allow users to create alerts based on their own interests.
For example, users will be able to follow specific locations or define criteria to receive notifications when events matching certain conditions occur.
These features will be introduced progressively as the platform continues to develop.
Independence and Information Sources
EarthSentra is an independent project and does not represent any government, emergency service, or official organization.
When we present information obtained from external organizations, we aim to clearly identify its source.
Natural hazard data may change after its initial publication. Magnitudes, locations, depths, and other parameters may later be revised by the organizations responsible for analyzing the events.
For this reason, EarthSentra should be considered an information and reference tool, not a replacement for official emergency systems.
Information During an Emergency
EarthSentra’s maps, statistics, and event records are provided for informational purposes.
During an earthquake, tsunami, or other emergency, instructions issued by official authorities, civil protection agencies, and emergency services should always take priority over information displayed on this website.
The EarthSentra Project
EarthSentra will continue to evolve with new information sources, regions, tools, and monitoring systems.
Our goal is to maintain a platform that is clear, fast, and useful, where information about natural hazards can be accessed without requiring users to interpret complex technical systems.
Understanding what is happening is the first step toward being better informed.
